Scarless Breast Augmentation

Usually, scars from breast augmentation are hardly visible. While they rarely widen out to become unsightly, their final visibility depends more on the individual's healing process than where the surgeon places the incision.

Under The Breast
An inframammary incision is hidden under the breast along the natural skin crease, usually in the shadow of the breast itself. This is advantageous because it usually heals inconspicuously and allows the cosmetic surgeon excellent visibility during surgery. The inframammary incision allows the implant to be placed over, partially under, or completely under the muscle. The scar from this procedure is practically invisible under normal circumstances and usually can only be seen when you are lying down naked.

Around The Nipple
Placing the incision around the nipple is a technique designed to camouflage the scar by placing it at the point where the areola meets the surrounding breast tissue. Usually, the scar goes half way round and is not easily seen due to the natural colour transition in this area.

Under The Arm
This technique, also called a transaxillary incision, uses a device called an endoscope (a pencil thin rod with a fiber-optic camera on its tip). It is typically placed in a natural crease hidden in the armpit, making it barely visible.

Through The Belly Button
This technique is also designed to hide the incision scar as much as possible. However, transumbilical breast augmentation tends to be the least desirable of all options since it severely limits your doctor's view during surgery, making it difficult to position the implant accurately. It can also lead to an increased risk of postoperative complications. Some implant manufacturers often even go so far as to void their warranties if this technique is used.
