Putting them this far will keep those roots from doing any damage either.

If they do not agree with you on this you can get with them and together you can see where it would be best to have them planted. They will listen to your plans and then check if this will work. In some cases you might have to cut back on the number of trees you can have as it just might be too many for the size of your yard.
