A Vacation And A Flooded Basement
It was finally time for Mr. and Mrs. Fitzgerald and their kids to take off for a family vacation. After a lot of planning for months on end the day finally came for them to depart for their desired destination. Before they could take off there were reports of an impending storm in their hometown and they feared that their flight might get canceled. However they could finally take off and start their vacation.
The Fitzgeralds had a great time spending time on the beaches, visiting museums, and traveling around the town. Meanwhile at this time their hometown reported the heaviest rainfall in the past few years. The entire area was inundated. Most of the people in the area had a flooded basement. However the Fitzgeralds had a proper sump pump installation in place. Therefore, though they were aware of the flood like situation in their home town they were not worried. Their sump pump would take care of the flooded basement.
Stormy weather
The day after their town received the heaviest rainfall, the Fitzgeralds called up their neighbor to know about the situation back home. They reported that there was also a major power failure in the town. This was when Mrs. Fitzgerald got a fright. She immediately asked her neighbor to look out of the window at their basement and he said that the basement was flooded. Mrs. Fitzgerald was on the verge of tears. She had stored a lot of valuable things in her flooded basement! Needless to say the Fitzgeralds had to cut short their vacation and rush home to take stock of the situation.
There are many people all over the country who face similar situations. You might have a sump pump in your flooded basement but without a battery back up sump pump, no job gets done in the event of a power failure. And when there is heavy rainfall or storm, it is very possible that your town would lose power.
If it is that you use a generator to operate your sump pump, you would have to be in the house to switch on the generator to enable your sump pump to function when the power fails. If you are not in the house, the sump pump does not function. This is where a battery back up sump pump is important. This would keep your flooded basement dry till power returns. Battery back up sump pumps comes in a wide array of designs and quality. You must note that a dependable sump pump would be able to remove at least 10,000 gallons of water before its charge gives away and 10,000 gallons is quite a good amount of water!
When you have a battery back up sump pump in your flooded basement it does more than just save you during power failures. It would also be useful incase the circuit breaker trips, a plug comes off or when the primary sump pump fails to work. Also when your primary sump pump has too much water to remove, the battery power sump pump can provide that additional support in a flooded basement.
