Why Not Eating Stops You From Losing Weight
I'm not losing weight, yet I hardly eat
Is this a cry that you have said when trying to lose weight? "I don't understand it, I hardly eat anything, but I am not losing weight." It is too easy to think you are eating less than you really are. If you have eaten large portions in the past, then even a smaller portion might still be too big.
Even though people underestimate what they eat, there is still the other problem of people thinking, "If I cut my eating to 700 calories then I will be able to lose weight easily." This is totally wrong. By eating too few calories your body will be running on empty. That is like trying to run a car with no gas in it, hoping it can make the 200 miles you want to go.
You will be expecting your body to perform tasks during the day and there is no fuel for your body to do that. You body will realize that there is a lack of food here, and everything will be going against what you want. Not only will you be hungry but you will not lose any weight.
Your brain will be saying, "Store food, starvation, survival is needed." Your body will start to react and store the food converting it to fat which it will then be able to use when you need the energy.
Now you are having the opposite effect to what you want. Because you are not eating enough, you end up gaining weight. This is the main reason why low calorie or fad diets don't work. They don't work because they end up causing you to gain weight because your body has gone into starvation mode. Don't put your body into starvation mode by not eating enough.
You will also see when your body is in starvation mode that you are not able to think clearly. Everything becomes more of an effort. Hunger is more noticeable and soon you are grabbing that chocolate bar, those chips and any other snack you can lay your hand on. You brain is screaming at you to be fed, and now you are eating every fast, high calorie food. You have blown your diet, just because you wanted to cut calories.
Eat a sensible diet with enough calories to give you energy and yet lose weight. That is the only way to eat a healthy diet.
