Female Hair Loss Symptoms and Causes
Female hair loss typically comes in two types, namely, temporary hair loss and permanent hair loss. The temporary hair loss symptom typically follows dramatic events such as pregnancy and childbirth, or illness. This is the easier of the two conditions to treat because all it takes is time to heal. Make sure you get a healthy diet, and start massaging the head, in an effort to increase blood circulation. This is often all you need to treat the situation with temporary hair loss. Excessive hair loss should be diagnosed and treated by a trained and experienced doctor.
Permanent hair loss among women is another story.
The most common cause of a permanent thinning hair or female pattern baldness is called androgenetic alopecia, and this is the same as in men. It's called female pattern baldness, but the features are significantly different than with men.
What happens is the hair follicles are affected by a derivative of testosterone called DHT. Dihyrdo testosterone can be counter-balanced with the amount of estrogen or progesterone in a woman. Hair loss can also occur when women are going through menopause. Again, this has to do with hormonal changes and the hormonal changes that affect the amount of DHT in the system.
Another condition that affects women is alopecia areata. This condition is a disorder of the immune system and it causes your hair loss to be in patches.
Another type is called triangular alopecia. This affects the temporal areas. With this situation, or type of situation, the hair is totally lost, or sometimes a few spots remain. Normally, surgery or surgical methods are needed to address this kind of situation.
The next type of hair loss is scarring alopecia. The main cause of something like this has to do to getting weaves or very tight braiding on the hair. What happens is the weaves pull on the hair and then the hair pulls on the scalp. The constant pulling causes scarring and when the skin is damaged the follicles become inflamed and hair falls out.
Finally, effluvium telogen hair loss is associated with women that tend to have fair hair. Fair hair is often associated with light hair. Because it is lighter, it does not handle up some hairstyles. In general, nutrition or diet drugs hormones have much to do with this condition.
So these are the common types of situations that cause hair loss in women. Think about the symptoms you may be experiencing then discuss them with your doctor to find the best solution to your needs.
