How Lightning Can Cause Fires And Other Damage
Do you know what lightning can do? It can start a fire just by striking down at something. Lightning is dangerous and you don't want to be outside when it's happening because you can get struck. If you get struck and it does not kill you, it can go right through you and melt your shoes. When lightning hits something, it can do a lot of damage to it and can start it on fire. If it hits a tree, it can split it in half and it can land on your house, which does a lot of damage and your house will be ruined. It may even start on fire, burning your house to the ground.
If it hits an electric pole, it will do a lot of damage to the electric box and it will have a big explosion of sparks. There will be wires everywhere by or on the road, in your yard, or it can land on your car and you can't go near it because it is dangerous. Do you know what lightning can do to you? It can give you sleeping disorders, dizziness, and memory loss. It will cause your body to have numbness to it, make your heart black out, give you brain damage, and can hurt your nervous system, too. All this from one lightning bolt. Can you imagine going through that?
Do you also know that out of all the people that have been hit by lightning, only 10% of them have died? Do not stand under a tree when there is lightning because it likes to hit trees. That is where a lot of them hit. This is a fact! If it hits water, it will send electrical currents through it and if you are in it, you will get shocked and it can kill you. You need to have insurance that covers lightning because it can cause a fire to your home, and it will damage a lot of things or everything you have. It can cause structural damage and can damage your electrical equipment. Lightning can cause power surges so make sure you unplug all of your stuff so it will no ruin it. If you do not already have one, then purchase a multiple plug power outlet with surge protector so your appliances and electronics won't be damaged. So watch out for lightning and stay in your house where it is safe.
